I recently had a question from a VIP Member who wrote me : I have an MPC 500 and I want use my Maschine to trigger the samples from the MPC. I love the MPC but the Maschine more lol. The Maschine is much easier to use but I sample very well with the MPC and external sources are easier to access as well. I welcome and suggestions that you may have thank you for your time.

Answer : Yes the MPC is a very cool piece of hardware and one of the first beat maschine I had learned on a while back. If you like the sounds of your MPC but want those same sounds on maschine you can import the sounds from your MPC to maschine very easily by loading the Pgm. FIles from your MPC. The Pgm. files is a file on the MPC that tells the MPC where to put your saved sounds on the pads. Maschine can read those file. Im not sure if your 500 can take SD cards but if it can you save those pgm files to ta sd card and then drag n drop that file to your computer. Then with maschine you can load the sounds. if the 500 does not allow sd cards it usually will for a CF , so same thing - save to a CF and if you have a computer that can read CF cards you can save it to your computer that way as well. Some computers have multiple readers some don't but you can always transfer files from CF to SD by a computer that will or there are some External USB card readers that read CF cards and SD cards if your computer or Laptop will not.

Recently I had Questions in regards to the PGM. Format in the Akai Line of products. whether the 500 all the way to the new Renaissance which can import legacy files from projects you may have created long awhile back. Well did you know that maschine same import MPC Files ? Although the Sequences can not be imported as they can with the MPC you can still bring that old magic of analogue kits from long ago into maschine to start working on a new project. Heres how watch this video on the technique.
Question : My Maschine / Mikro controller does not start what should I do ??? If this happens to you it can get your heart pumping and ready to curse out a Native Instruments Rep. But rest assured your Maschine controller is fine. What happens is your software had a Glitch where the software will turn the Brightness setting on your screen off. If you go to the preference box it will look locked. If you unplug or plug your controller back in you will get the same results and start to sweat. Again rest assured its only a Glitch. This can be caused by a Plugin you may have started and it did not agree with the software and to be honest it can be many different factors to cause this glitch. Heres the Fix you will need two things. Log into your NI Account and download the Maschine_Controller_301_PC_p Zip. and the Controller_Editor_145U_PC Zip. and follow these Instructions from our friends over at Native Instruments.
1. Make sure that the MASCHINE software is installed on your computer.
2. Download the latest version of the CONTROLLER EDITOR from the NI Free Updates page.
3. When the CONTROLLER EDITOR download is finished, disconnect all NI controllers from the computer and restart it.
Don't start any audio application!
4. Install the latest CONTROLLER EDITOR version you just downloaded. If the computer asks if you want to restart, confirm this.
5. Connect the MASCHINE controller to the computer. It should work now. Take a deep breath and say WHEEEEEEEEEEW !!!!!! lol ;)
6. I keep both of these files backed up in our VIP Database just in case of situations like this.
